Statement on the Missing Children Found on the Grounds of Former Residential Schools

Oceanic Iron Ore Corp. is deeply saddened by the recent discovery of Indigenous children’s bodies found at the former residential schools in BC, other parts of Canada and the United States. These heartbreaking discoveries are a painful reminder of a shocking part of our history. Our thoughts are with our Company’s Indigenous partners and all Indigenous communities throughout the country.

Steven Dean, Executive Chairman stated “This sad news has had a heartfelt effect on me and the Artemis team. We recognize the damaging legacy inflicted upon Indigenous People caused by the residential school system, and we take time to reflect on this dark chapter in history and the tragic generational implications it holds for people and families today. Artemis is committed to operating in a way that actively advances reconciliation with Indigenous People, and we seek to develop partnerships based on respect and understanding. We extend our sincerest condolences to Canada’s Indigenous People and we mourn with them in their journey of healing.

Oceanic is focused on the development of the Ungava Bay iron properties in Nunavik, Quebec. The properties comprise three project areas: Hopes Advance, Morgan Lake and Roberts Lake, which cover over 300 kilometres of iron formation and are located within 20 – 50 km of tidewater.
